TPT #6: When to Prepare for the SAT/ACT

June 13, 2017

When to Start Studying for the ACT or SAT

A common question that many students ask is when should they start standardized test prep. The answer is simple: The sooner you start the better. The more exposure that you get to the test material, the more you will be accustomed to it. Of course, if you aren’t consistently practicing, it isn’t beneficial to start early.

Here are 3 rules of thumb for when to start:

If you want to get a great score on the SAT or ACT, you need to start the summer of your sophomore year for optimal results
If you are a junior or senior and haven’t started preparing yet, you need to begin as soon as possible
The best time to start preparing is now. 2 hours a week of consistent practice can go a long way!
